Time For Tea…
I love this time of year… clear blue skies, rose buds ready to burst open, bird song and the smell of freshly mowed lawns and I can’t wait to make our first visit to Beau Maison since we saw in the New Year…
I’ve been busy over the spring making handmade vintage crafts, some of which I’m selling at a local schools summer fayre and some that will adorn our home from home at Beau Maison.
Vintage 3 tier cake stands, aromatherapy scented tea cup candles and bunting. I hope you enjoy them as much as I have making them…
In the beginning…
Thought it would be a nice idea to share our family’s journey in the making of Beau Maison…
It wasn’t a particularly well thought out plan in the beginning! Continue reading →
Bonne Annee from Beau Maison
We’re just back from spending a wonderfully relaxing week in France over the New Year break. We were treated to some beautiful winter weather. When we arrived in Cherbourg on the 30th December the sky was clear and blue and as we drove through the Normandy and Brittany countryside, the landscape stretching out before us was dusted in a sparkling white frost…
It was a few degrees below freezing when we arrived at Beau Maison! Despite the cottage being empty for the last couple of months it only took a couple of hours before we were cosy’d up thanks to the roaring woodburning stove.
We made a few trips out during our stay, but lounging infront of the stove and watching old movies was our favourite pass time during this break! A much needed rest and recharge of batteries after a busy christmas and working lots of hours was just what the doctor ordered!
Of course we did venture out for some good old breton fresh air and exercise but didn’t need to go far… The forest of Couroussaine is situated just behind Beau Maison and provided the perfect place to blow the cob webs away.
We also took a stroll down the Voie Vert, a disused railway line which has been converted to provide a wonderfully scenic place to stroll or cycle along. We walked from the village of Loyat with the river Yvel running through it and along the path.
Whilst there we met up for a coffee with the lovely Karen & Rick, our housekeeper & gardener. They do an amazing job of looking after Beau Maison during our absence. They always go above and beyond to ensure our guests have a great holiday… Karens welcome hamper with homemade jam and eggs from her own chickens are a real treat and means that you can start to enjoy your holiday from the moment you arrive without the worry of having to shop for your basic essentials.
As always our visit to Beau Maison passed by far too quickly and even though we don’t get to the cottage as often as we like, it really is like going home.
So Bonne Annee to all our guests, past & future.
Best wishes
Sara & Gary
